High Tech Washrooms

The traditional way of maintaining the washrooms was to prepare a checklist and instruct the staff to follow it. All the FM services are now managed digitally by wireless sensors. This technology-driven world needs everything to be done in a smart manner. Here smart means the task which is cost effective as well as saves the time and ultimately delivered a quality service.

Internet of  Things is the backbone that made all of these possible.

It can be used in the FM services to make them more effective. For example, it can be used in the services that are required to maintain washroom. It can record the count of people that have used the washroom since it was last cleaned with this it can also keep a track of the amount of toilet paper that is remaining on the towel roll and the status of trash cans.

All these tracking are possible with the help of an array of sensors which are installed around the washroom that is actually bringing intelligence to washroom cleaning. It results in a better quality of service and better customer experience.

We are already aware of this high tech technology but still, it is hard to implement it in India.IT is not like they want to implement it but the reason is the attentiveness to responsiveness to the service is not up to date and all these high tech services required keen and continuous monitoring with least human intervention.

So now it is the time to implement these high tech services by taking a step ahead from servicing as per schedule on paper to service as per demand in a digital manner.

One of the biggest flaws in maintaining the checklist and deliver the services according to the schedule made on the paper is it bound the services with respect to time, e.g. if dustbin is scheduled to be cleaned at 7 pm, then the cleaner will do this at 7 pm only without having concern if the dustbin is overflowing from hours before that 7 pm. Checklist just makes sure that the task is completed or not, it doesn’t care about the customer experience.

But with the introduction of sensors in FM world has definitely revolutionized the way of delivering g services to the customer in the best possible manner. Washroom cleaning is now easy to maintain with the help of the sensors. The sensors help to keep an eye on real-time service demand and keep the track of data that can be helpful to maintain those services. It saves the cost as well as the precious time of the cleaning staff now there is no need to move from washrooms to washrooms to check their status.

A smart way of tracking traffic

All the public places and areas such as airport face a huge amount of footfall ever day,  so, do their washrooms. So it is necessary to keep the record of the data that how many people used the service of the washroom in a day to plan a cleaning schedule in a more appropriate manner.

Sensors play a vital role in this case, instead of keeping the record manually, the sensors that are attached to the doors of washrooms, record the data that how many people are using the washroom and gives it to the monitoring unit on monthly, weekly or daily basis.

The same concept can be used in the complex offices also where they need to keep a record of number of  people using washrooms because at the end of the financial year when companies have their meetings at that time is possible that more people might visit the washroom but at the time time of summer vacations this number may vary. In the first case, more frequent cleaning of the washroom is required and so as the resources to maintain the washroom clean and hygienic. It is important to keep the real-time record to manage the number of services and resources that are required to fulfill those services.

All the data which is being captured by the sensors are transmitted to the FM team so that they can analyze the particular trends such as which washroom is most frequently used and which one is avoided the most and are there any washrooms that should be shut down and its space can be used for some other purpose.

Isolated spikes can give predictive analysis so that the concerned person can prepare for future spikes in advance.
Isolated spikes in usage such as mealtimes, or regularly scheduled events can provide predictive analysis to the manager so that he can prepare for future spikes well in advance.

Better Staff Management

In a traditional way, the higher concerned person allocate the task to the staff and the staff member do their respective job at given allocated time and it is assumed that in between the scheduled duties there would not be any need to deliver the services as everything goes fine. But this assumption is not true it degrades the level of customer experience. It is the most inefficient and outdated way of maintenance.

Sensors can alter the staff whenever there is a need to deliver the services. Manager can deploy the staff to handle such real-time based needs. It also gives the insight to the manager that where to deploy their staff and where to not, which washroom is frequently used and which is not being used.

There is a cloud-based management system that offers a framework for each and every employee to get notified about the cleaning task. After doing it they can mark it as completed and the manager can keep the track of the status of each washroom where he has deployed his staff.

Staff can deliver better services if they know that when and where exactly the services need to be delivered.

Cost Effective

With the help of data, productivity and efficiency can be greatly improved and also increases the margins of FM companies. It gives flexibility in the way of delivering services and makes them cost-effective as well.
